Sep 27, 2013 · Default gateway is blank for Windows XP Home - posted in Networking: I have problems connecting to the internet for several weeks. I have Windows XP with Service Pack 3. My router is a Linksys WRT54G.
the wireless ssid pops up and i can connect to it with my macbook but the internet does not work at all. I can connect to the router through 192.168.1.1 and have security setup etc. imy mac address shows up in the dhcp clients list. in the status tab everything looks normal except the default gateway is all zeros. So I changed the properties back to "automatically assign ip adres" and I went into cmd, I typed "ipconfig/all". It now shows NO default gateway, and it shows the ip that I copied from my laptop I immediately noticed that Default Gateway was empty. I tried a few of those netsh reset commands to no avail; either way this is a little over my head. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, and let me know if you need any more information from me. Thanks! EDIT: Also I'm using a Actiontec V1000H Modem/Router provided by my ISP. At this point, approximately three seconds after the Network Cable Unplugged icon disappears from the taskbar, Ipconfig shows the IP address and subnet mask, but no default gateway. Approximately two seconds later, when the validity of the DHCP lease has been verified, Ipconfig shows the correct IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.

Re: Default Gateway when connected to VPN I didn't realise I had that crypto settings on, thanks my bad!!!
